Artist Sonya Unwin

Sonya Unwin is an Adelaide-based artist working from her studio at Collective Haunt Inc., a vibrant artist-run space that fosters creativity, experimentation, and community.

Her practice explores the connection between colour, light and landscape, blending intuitive mark-making with a strong sense of mood and movement.

Sonya’s paintings evolve through a balance of observation and emotion, capturing the shifting energy of place rather than depicting it literally. Her work has been exhibited across South Australia, and she continues to refine her contemporary visual language through ongoing exploration and community engagement at Collective Haunt, in Norwood, South Australia.

Winner of the Adelaide Hills Landscape Arts Prize, 2021, Unwin’s practice focusses on the exploration of the landscapes and thoughtful use of colour and a connection to the natural world.
